2007: North Yorkshire Tour
Saturday 22nd September 2007
We had a fantastic day out round North Yorkshire, and even extended into Lancashire for a three and a mini-ring. Photos will be online soon.
2005: The Lakes Tour
27th August - 3rd September 2005
In 2005 we decided to be a bit more adventurous and hired three cabins in Hawkshead, at the heart of The Lake District. 18 ringers and none ringers, travelled from all parts of the country to ring in one of the most beautiful places in England, if not the world. We rang at 26 towers all over The Lake District.
2004: Taylors Bell Foundry, Loughborough
1st July 2004
To celebrate the centenary of the rebuilding of Kingston upon Hull's Guildhall the city council decided to install a carillon in the clock tower. Nine new bells are being added to the existing quarter bells. We visited the foundry of John Taylor & Co to see the first four bells being cast.
The day consisted of a visit to the bell foundry museum, a ring on the foundry bells, lunch in a pub, a foundry tour followed by watching the bells being cast. We were joined by the Lord Mayor of Hull and some visitors from Canada.
2003: Ringing Roadshow at the Lincoln Showground
The Ringing Roadshow is held every couple of years at different locations nationwide, 2003 is the furthest north that the event has ever been held, allowing much easier access to this largest gathering of ringers ever.
We took a coach so that we'd not have to worry about enjoying the bar and driving back, though the coach we got was a little bigger than we'd anticipated but was the only one they had, we still paid the same though so we didn't complain at each having a whole seat to ourselves!
